This article will take you through the steps of installing, licensing, and setting up the Excel Add-in.
Step 1: Installing
Select the Excel Add-In from the list and click "Next".
Deselect the checkbox "Launch utility to set DCOM..." then click "Finish".
Step 2: Licensing
*The Excel Add-in must be licensed on the historian machine.
Open the Canary Admin on the historian machine and click the Licenses tile.
If you have internet access on the local machine you can "ADD LICENSE THROUGH INTERNET". Fill in the appropriate information:
- Name
- Company
- Serial number
- Quantity
Put a check in the box next to Historian Views Excel Add-In then click GET LICENSE.
If you do not have internet access on the local machine you will need to "ADD LICENSE MANUALLY".
Using a device with internet access, browse to https://www.canarylabs.com/en/support/license. Fill in the appropriate information. You will need the License Code from the Licenses Tile in the Canary Admin in order to complete the process. This will generate a "Key" which you can copy and paste into the License Key field and click ACCEPT KEY.
*Note: Each time you successfully retrieve a license the License Code updates.
Step 3: Setting Up the Add-In
Open Excel and select the Canary Labs tab.
Select "Set Endpoint" to point the client to the historian machine. If the historian is on the local machine you can simply type in "localhost". Otherwise, type in the name of the historian machine or its IP address.
You may choose to connect to the historian machine using Anonymous , Username, or Windows Credentials. Anonymous uses port 55231, whereas Username and Windows Credentials use port 55234. These ports can be disabled/enabled in the Canary Admin on the historian machine in Views Tile>Configuration>Endpoints.
Step 5: Pulling Data
You are now set to read data from the historian by selecting Raw Data or Processed Data!
