- The Calculation server is a powerful tool, creating simple calculated tags to complex calculations from many Asset Models. The calculation server is included with the Historian. Each calculated tag consumes a tag from the Historian license.
- The following steps show creating a basic calculation from the local Historian.
- Create a DataSet from the Historian tile to store the calculated tags. Do not use an existing DataSet being used to collect raw data. Best practice is to keep calculated data isolated.
- From the Calculation tab, click the "ADD" button on the right. This insert the fields for configuring a group of calculations.
- Give a name to the group. Since our calculation will be from the Historian view, "Asset Path", "Asset Type" and "Meta" can be left blank.
- Backfill will default to the current time. This can be set to fill in history for the calculation.
- Change the Frequency to "Periodic" for our sample calculation and set the "Interval" to "5s" for 5 seconds.
- Click the "+" button on the right of the panel below. In the first field enter a parameter name or tag name.
- Click the "Tags" tab in the panel to the right. Type any filters to find the tags to be used in the calculation and click the "+" button beside the tag name. This will insert the qualified name into the expression field.
- Type or select the "+" from the Operators tab and repeat step 7 to insert the next tag.
- Type the "DataSet.Tagname" in the Tag field.
- Clicking the "Evaluate" button, (top, left) will test the calculation and show any errors.
- Click "Apply" and "Close" in the upper right to close the configuration. This will now show the calculation group where they can be started and stopped.
